Partial government shutdown impacts Housing Authority

MACOMB — As Republican and Democratic Party members spar over responsibility for the partial government shutdown, now in its third week, the McDonough County Housing Authority has four months of cash reserves before running out of money in June.
That’s according to HA Executive Director Bill Jacobs, who presented a summary of the budget situation during the Board of Commissioners meeting Monday.
Jacobs said the money for the basic operations of the public housing authority and the voucher program was already in the pipeline when the shutdown began on Dec. 22.
The HA is funded through the end of February; then from March to June, they will dip into their cash reserves to continue basic operations and the voucher program.
